ROWAN

This little pony is an absolute character!  He spends most of his time trying to convince someone to give him a cookie and scratch his belly.  Rowan melts every kid’s heart with his big ears and soft eyes, but challenges a rider under saddle to be confident and purposeful in their riding.  Rowan’s favorite food is Smarties candy, although he doesn’t complain about anything sweet!  Rowan is 11 years old, part Quarter Horse and part Morgan, and about 14 hands high.

TOBY

Toby is our beauty king.  Toby was a show horse for many years before coming to Shoofly, and you can still see how fancy he is when he carries kids around our arena.  Toby is slow and steady and takes perfect care of a timid rider.  Toby is an 18 year old purebred Arabian who is 15 hands high and is leased to us by Tasha Dragnich. 

COOPER

Super Duper Cooper is our famous funky-eared western gaming horse.  One of his ears is deformed because before he was born one of his teeth moved up into it!  Try to take a look at is during summer and ask Katie more about his unique ear.  Cooper is a favorite of campers who are looking to turn it up a notch and try a more sensitive, active horse that enjoys jogging, barrel racing and turning on a dime. Cooper is a 22 year old Saddlebred cross who is 15.2 hands high.

MISTY

Our lone female horse is Misty, a beautiful old lady who is a gem with timid and confident campers alike.  Her gentle nature is perfect for a nervous rider, even if she is our tallest camp horse!  Misty loves being out on the trail the most, although she thinks getting a beauty treatment of brushing and braids is pretty cool too.  Misty is a registered Quarter Horse and her full name is Misty Mountain Morning.  She is 25 years old, 15.3 hands high, and is owned by Lani. 

THUNDER

Do you remember Thunder?  He was at Shoofly Farm a few years ago with his son, Blondie.  He is back this year, teaching another set of little kids to love ponies.  Thunder is a great pony to learn riding on because he is so gentle and kind.  Back in his youth, Thunder used to be a fancy hunter/jumper pony, but now he enjoys getting brushed, braided, tacked up and ridden by Shoofly campers.  Thunder is about 25 years old and is only 12.3 hands high.  He is a Welsh/Arab cross and is leased to us by Marv and Rebecca Meyers.

SOLO

Solo is a young ex-racehorse who is in training with Katie while learning how to be a jumping and riding horse.  He isn’t ridden often by campers, but is able to be brushed and braided all day long.  Solo will always come over for a cuddle and will entertain you for hours with his “dish” trick.  Solo is only 16.2 hands high, although people always think that he is bigger because of his long legs.  He is five years old and is owned by Jerry Lloyd and Chris Sharkey.
